Anse de Maldormé, Protected cove in 7th arrondissement of Marseille, France

Anse de Maldormé is a protected cove with clear water and rocky shores in the 7th arrondissement of Marseille. Stone steps lead down to a small beach area where swimming is possible and the water stays shallow near the shore.

The cove has kept its original character since the early development of Marseille's coastal areas and served local fishermen for generations. Its function changed as the city grew, but the physical place remained much the same.

Local people gather here regularly and have created their own community among the rocky shores. The place feels like a neighborhood spot where familiar faces return season after season.

The beach area is small and fills up quickly on warm days, so arriving early gives you the best chance of finding space. Wear sturdy shoes since the steps can be wet and the rocks are slippery underfoot.

Behind the main beach, hidden stone steps lead down to a smaller creek that feels more secluded and peaceful. Most visitors miss this quiet corner because they do not explore beyond the obvious entry point.
