Villa Valmer, Renaissance villa in 7th arrondissement of Marseille, France

Villa Valmer is a three-story manor house with white stone facades located in Marseille's 7th arrondissement. It features ornamental details and a central garden with Mediterranean views.

The property was built in 1865 for oil manufacturer Charles Gounelle and was originally called Wave to the Sea. It later served as a Maritime School from 1942 to 1968 before finding new uses.

This villa reflects the wealth that flowed into Marseille during the 1800s when merchants traded goods from across the Mediterranean. The building itself tells the story of how the city became prosperous through its harbor and commerce.

The public grounds feature two viewing terraces with wide views across the coastline toward the surrounding hills. You should visit these terraces to see the best perspectives of the sea and landscape.

The building is being transformed into a luxury hotel while preserving a cultural program for visitors and the public. This conversion maintains the historical importance of the site for the future.
