Passerelle du Village olympique, Pedestrian and bicycle bridge at Olympic Village, Saint-Denis, France
The passerelle du Village olympique is a pedestrian and cycling bridge that extends 138 meters across the Seine, connecting Saint-Denis to L'Île-Saint-Denis. This steel and concrete structure is 16 meters wide and accommodates foot and bicycle traffic with a clean, modern design.
Architect Thomas Lavigne designed this structure specifically for the 2024 Paris Olympics preparation. The bridge served as a key piece of infrastructure connecting the two sections of the Olympic Village complex.
The bridge links two key venues from the 2024 Olympics in a way that remains visible today. You can observe how locals and visitors use this connection in their daily movements across the river.
The bridge includes ramps designed for people with reduced mobility, making it accessible to all visitors. The crossing takes about ten minutes on foot or considerably less by bicycle.
The structure weighs 1,500 tons and was initially assembled at Gennevilliers port before being transported by barge to its final location. After installation, 74 trees were planted on the L'Île-Saint-Denis side to green the surrounding area.
