Didi Abuli, Mountain summit in Lesser Caucasus, Georgia.
Didi Abuli is a mountain summit in the Lesser Caucasus that rises to 3,301 meters and marks the highest point of Akhalkalaki Municipality. The massif belongs to the volcanic Abul-Samsari Range and shapes the landscape of Samtskhe-Javakheti province with its prominent rocky slopes.
The mountain formed as a stratovolcano in the Abul-Samsari Range and contributed to the geological development of the Caucasus through volcanic activity. This volcanic origin continues to shape the structure and appearance of the ridge today.
The mountain's name means Great Abuli in Georgian, reflecting the long presence of Armenian communities in this mountainous region.
The climb follows a roughly 16-kilometer round-trip trail from Abuli village and is best done during the warmer months. The best season runs from June through October, when snow melts and paths become accessible.
On clear days, three major mountain peaks can be seen from the summit: Mount Elbrus, Mount Aragats, and Mount Ararat. This rare sight makes the view a special moment for hikers.
