Dashbashi Canyon Natural Monument

Dashbashi Canyon Natural Monument is a deep gorge cut through volcanic rock and marked by several waterfalls along its path. The steep walls reveal layers of different stone, creating a dramatic valley that the Khrami River carved through.

The canyon formed millions of years ago when volcanic eruptions shaped the rock and created cracks in the earth. Over time, the river worked through these cracks and expanded them into the deep gorge visible today.

Two medieval temples stand nearby and show how religious buildings were constructed in this region. People have visited these sites for centuries, and they remain part of the local landscape today.

The site lies about 90 kilometers south of Tbilisi and requires roughly an hour of travel from the capital. From Tsalka town, the roads become gravel and unpaved, so sturdy shoes and careful footing are helpful for the journey.

A modern pedestrian bridge spans the gorge at a dizzying height and connects the edges of the canyon. Visitors can walk across this suspended bridge and see the entire valley below their feet.
