Wasalandia, Amusement park in Vaasa, Finland.
Wasalandia was a leisure complex on Vaskiluoto Island that featured Trafficland, Pirateland, Wild West, and Funfairland sections with 28 rides distributed across them. Each zone presented its own decoration, buildings, and attractions designed around its theme, creating a series of separate environments within the grounds.
The site opened in 1988 under Finnish operator Puuharyhmä Oyj and continued under their management until 2007, when the Spanish company Aspro Ocio took over ownership. This international transition marked a shift in the direction of the facility and eventually led to new development plans for the island location.
The name combines Vaasa with the Finnish suffix for playground, reflecting how regional families used the space for seasonal gatherings. Local schools often organized summer trips here, and the park hosted regional festivals with live performances and community celebrations.
The grounds lay on Vaskiluoto Island roughly 3 kilometers from downtown Vaasa and opened during the summer season from June through August. Visitors reached the island via a bridge connecting it to the mainland, and the site provided parking areas and service facilities on location.
The Water Rafting ride used seawater from the surrounding coast to create a natural flow through its rapids, offering an experience closer to real river conditions. The 3D theater in the Wild West section combined moving seats with visual effects to place riders inside scenes of frontier life and action.
