Eastern Gulf of Finland National Park

The Eastern Gulf of Finland National Park consists of numerous small islands and islets covered in pine forests and rocky outcrops spread across about 6.7 square kilometers. The protected area includes larger islands like Ulko-Tammio and Mustaviiri alongside many smaller isles connected by water channels.

The park was established in 1982 to protect this marine ecosystem with deep historical roots. The islands preserve evidence of wartime fortifications and ancient stone structures that show how people lived in this archipelago long ago.

The fishing villages scattered through the archipelago reflect the maritime way of life that shaped communities here for centuries. You can see how the landscape and sea remain central to how people understand and use this area.

You need a boat to reach most of this park since the islands are separated by water channels. Several islands have marked hiking trails that you can explore on foot once you arrive.

The distinctive red rapakivi granite formations visible throughout the park developed millions of years ago with their signature cubic patterns. These striking rocks now serve as nesting grounds for seabirds and define the islands' character.
