Science Centre Tietomaa

Science Centre Tietomaa is a museum housed in a converted factory building with multiple levels of exhibitions dedicated to physics, biology, and environmental sciences. The spaces feature hands-on experiments, a planetarium, and learning areas designed for different age groups.

The center was created from the buildings of a former leather processing factory, with the original power station repurposed as the main exhibition space. This conversion preserved the industrial heritage of Oulu while giving the buildings a new educational purpose.

The center plays an important role in science education locally and offers regular workshops and demonstrations for school groups and families. Visitors experience science as something connected to their daily lives.

The venue is easily reached by public transportation and located in an accessible area with parking nearby. Plan to spend several hours to comfortably explore all the different sections.

A former factory water tower was converted into a 45-meter observation tower equipped with a glass elevator. From the top, visitors get wide views across the city and surrounding landscape.
