Haapamäki Steam Locomotive Park

Haapamäki Steam Locomotive Park is a railway museum spread across a large site with steam locomotives and various railway equipment from different periods. The park displays machines of different sizes and designs that transported passengers and freight across the country for decades.

The museum was founded in 1988 to preserve and present the history of Finnish railway transport. It gathers steam locomotives and maintenance facilities from various decades, showing how railway technology evolved over time.

The park is accessible during the warm season and offers visitors the chance to enjoy various activities like guided tours and draisine rides on the grounds. There is also a camping area if you want to stay longer and explore the surrounding countryside.

Visitors can operate actual draisines on an 18-kilometer track network and ride through the Finnish countryside rather than just viewing machines. This hands-on experience allows you to personally operate the historical transport method and see the landscape from a different perspective.
