Keuruu, Municipality in Central Finland
Keuruu extends across four connected islands with a total area of 1,430 square kilometers, including 172 square kilometers of inland water bodies and 316 lakes.
The region transformed from a hunting ground in 1552 to an independent parish in 1628, receiving settlers from Savonia who established permanent residences starting in 1564.
The old wooden church from the 18th century functions as a museum, while the Pentecostal Midsummer Conference brings together participants each summer season.
The municipality contains three main population centers: central Keuruu, Haapamäki village, and Pihlajaveden station, offering various services for approximately 9,300 residents.
The municipal coat of arms displays a black church boat in a silver upper section combined with crossed threshing bars in the red lower field.
