Keuruu

Keuruu is a municipality in Central Finland spread across four connected islands with numerous lakes scattered throughout. The place has three main centers that serve different functions and provide services to the local population.

The region started as a hunting area and began to be settled from 1552 onward. By 1628 it became an independent parish, with settlers from Savonia establishing permanent communities.

The old wooden church from the 1700s now works as a museum showing local religious life. A major Pentecostal gathering draws many visitors to the area each summer.

The town spreads across several distinct centers, so it helps to think about which area suits your plans first. Basic services and shops are available in all three main centers throughout the region.

The coat of arms displays a black church boat on silver in the upper section and crossed threshing tools on red below. These symbols connect the maritime and farming heritage that shaped the region.
