Lakeuden Risti Church

The white church building rises 46 meters high with a cross-shaped bell tower that marks the Seinäjoki skyline against the Finnish plains.

Finnish architect Alvar Aalto designed the church after winning a competition in 1951, with construction completed between 1957 and 1960.

The church stands as the first completed structure within the Aalto Center, a collection of municipal buildings that shaped Seinäjoki's architectural identity.

The main hall accommodates 1200 people while the organ gallery holds 124 additional seats for regular services and community gatherings.

Every interior element, from the sloping floor to the stained glass windows, light fixtures, and communion silverware, carries Aalto's architectural signature.
