Koločep, Mediterranean island near Dubrovnik, Croatia
The island spans less than 2.5 square kilometers with two primary settlements, Gornje Celo and Donje Celo, connected by forest paths.
The island functioned as a significant shipbuilding center during the Republic of Ragusa period, which began in the 11th century.
The island contains several religious structures from the 9th century, including the Church of St Sergius, St Nicholas, and the Holy Trinity.
Regular ferry services operate from Dubrovnik to Koločep, with journeys taking approximately 35 minutes to reach the car-free island.
The Blue Cave on the southern coast offers swimming opportunities, while the surrounding waters contain numerous coves and marine habitats.
