Punta rata, Beach in Brela, Croatia

Punta Rata is a pebbly beach in the Makarska Riviera where pine trees grow down to the water's edge and the sea remains clear and clean. The beach stretches along a natural promontory offering views across the coastline.

The beach and its pine forest were protected as a natural area in 1964, marking an early effort to preserve this section of the coast. This designation reflected growing awareness of the region's ecological value.

The pine-topped rock that rises from the water has become the defining image of this stretch of coast and appears frequently in travel photographs. Locals and visitors alike regard it as one of the most recognizable beaches along the Adriatic.

The beach is easily accessed from the coastal promenade that connects several bays and has facilities for water sports. The pebbly surface means wearing water shoes is helpful for comfortable swimming.

The beach holds Blue Flag certification for water quality, a distinction earned through meeting strict standards for cleanliness and safety. This annual recognition places it among the cleanest swimming spots on the Adriatic coast.
