Church of the Assumption

The Church of the Assumption is a Baroque building in Samobor featuring a spacious interior with classical architectural proportions and decorative elements from the 18th century. The layout follows traditional church design with a central nave and side areas that guide visitors through the space in a natural flow.

The building and its attached monastery were completed between 1717 and 1721, becoming important structures in Samobor's development. During World War I, the complex served as a military hospital for wounded soldiers and civilians from the region.

The monastery houses a library managed by Fra Vatroslav Frkin, containing valuable religious texts and historical documents from different periods.

The church is regularly open to visitors and offers a quiet space for reflection and observation. It is best visited during daylight hours when natural light illuminates the interior and helps you appreciate the architectural details clearly.

A former gymnasium building within the complex was later transformed into the Tabor Meeting House, which received official recognition from the state in 2019 for its community work. This conversion demonstrates how religious sites adapt to serve modern local needs beyond worship.
