The theater opened in 1894 under Károly Somossy's direction, transforming from an Orpheum into the Fővárosi Operett Színház through multiple management changes until 1923.
Productions at the theater include Hungarian classics like John the Valiant and international adaptations such as The Count of Monte Cristo with music by György Szomor.
The venue contains 901 seats across the main auditorium and balconies, featuring air conditioning and digital ticketing systems for enhanced visitor comfort.
The theater maintains a dedicated Storage Room Theatre, inaugurated in 2002, which provides space for experimental productions alongside traditional performances.
