Saint Teresa of Ávila Church in Budapest

Saint Teresa of Ávila Church is a Catholic place of worship built in the Baroque style within Budapest's Terézváros district. The interior features decorated altars, painted walls and ceilings, and ornamental details that give the space a formal religious character.

The building started in 1809 following a Baroque design by architect Fidél Kasselik. Nearly 70 years later, architect Miklós Ybl made substantial changes to the structure during the 1870s.

The church carries the name of a Spanish saint from the 1500s, creating a spiritual connection to Catholic devotion. Worshippers and visitors experience this dedication in the regular ceremonies held throughout the year.

Beneath the church lies a crypt holding the remains of important people connected to Budapest's development. Few visitors know about this underground burial space, which adds a quiet historical layer to the building.
