The building was designed and supervised between 1721 and 1725 by lay brother Athanasius Wittwer for the Carmelite Order. This construction period marked an important phase in the religious architecture of the city during the Baroque era.
Culture
The Loreto chapel displays a statue of Black Mary from 1717, and Mario Altomonte created the main altarpiece inside. Visitors today see how the community continues to venerate these artworks during daily worship and prayer.
