Carmelite church in Győr, Baroque parish church in Győr, Hungary
The church features an Italian-style main facade, with a domed nave of elliptical shape and a square sanctuary behind the entrance.
Between 1721 and 1725, lay brother Athanasius Wittwer designed and supervised the construction of this religious building for the Carmelite Order.
The Loreto chapel contains a statue known as Black Mary from 1717, while Mario Altomonte created the main altarpiece inside the church.
Visitors can access the church daily during two time slots: from 6 AM to 12 PM and from 3 PM to 6 PM for services or meditation.
The church combines architectural elements from both Italian Baroque traditions and local Hungarian religious building designs of the 18th century.
