Construction of the church began in 1724 and continued until 1880. Emperor Franz Joseph contributed funds for one of the towers in 1857, underscoring the building's importance to the region.
The church contains paintings and statues by Mihály Kovács created in 1855 and 1879, depicting religious scenes throughout its interior. These works shape how the space feels when you walk through and tell stories from the Bible.
The church is located on Mindszent Place near the International Trade Center. It welcomes visitors throughout the year and maintains regular worship services.
A small Calvary shrine from 1864 stands beside the church. The site occupies the location of a medieval chapel first documented in 1507.
