Magasház, High-rise building in Pécs, Hungary.

The Magasház building extends 80 meters into the sky with its 25 floors of concrete and steel, creating a vertical presence in the city landscape.

Built between 1974 and 1976 using Yugoslavian IMS technology, this residential complex housed 800 residents until structural issues forced evacuation in 1989.

The tower exemplified the 1970s Hungarian urban planning philosophy of constructing vertical residential spaces instead of renovating existing buildings.

The structure contained four elevators serving 250 apartments across 18,000 square meters of floor space before its demolition in 2016.

Despite a 360 million Hungarian Forint reinforcement in 2003, it remained the largest abandoned building in Central Europe until its removal.
