Small Reformed Church in Debrecen, Reformed church in Debrecen, Hungary.
The Small Reformed Church is a place of worship in Debrecen built with stone walls and featuring a tower completed in 1725. The building accommodates roughly 1,600 people and sits on Révész Square in the city center.
The building stands where a medieval chapel dedicated to Elizabeth once stood, with records pointing to a wooden structure used for worship in the 16th century. The current stone church was later constructed to serve the growing reformed congregation.
The interior displays reformed design with white walls and simple ornamentation, reflecting Protestant values of plainness in worship. Visitors experience a space that deliberately avoids elaborate decoration.
The church sits centrally on Révész Square and is easily accessible on foot, with the main entrance clearly visible. Visitors should be aware that regular worship services take place and respect for ongoing religious activities is important.
The church organ was made possible through András Auer's donation and received a formal inauguration at Christmas in 2018 after renovation work in 2016. This instrument has become an important part of both concerts and services held here.
