Debreceni toronyház, Residential tower in Debrecen, Hungary.
The Debreceni toronyház is a residential tower in Debrecen, Hungary, rising to 79 meters (about 259 feet) across 22 floors. The ground level holds commercial spaces and offices, while the upper floors are divided into apartments.
The tower was completed in 1973, designed by architect Boruzs Bernát, and built right next to the main railway station. It went up during a period when Debrecen was reshaping its city center with new construction.
The tower stands at Petőfi Square, right next to the main railway station, making it one of the first things people see when they arrive in Debrecen. For many residents, it serves as a natural reference point in the city center.
The building sits directly at the main railway station and tram terminus, so it is easy to spot and reach by public transport. Since it is a residential building, visitors cannot enter but can view it from the square outside.
The top two floors of the tower are technical floors that house telecommunications antennas used by the city. This means the building quietly serves the wider urban area as a transmission point, in addition to its role as housing.
