Tildy bridge, Road bridge in Tahitótfalu, Hungary.
The Tildy bridge spans 201 meters across the Szentendre branch of the Danube River, connecting the eastern and western parts of Tahitótfalu. It is a straightforward road bridge with a functional design that enables daily traffic between the two shores.
Construction of the bridge began in 1912 and was completed in 1914 as an important transportation project of that era. After wartime damage, it was rebuilt in 1947 and received its current form in 1978.
A memorial site near the bridge displays a bronze relief of Zoltán Tildy, who led Hungary as Prime Minister and President during the 1940s. Visitors can see this monument and learn about his role in Hungarian history.
The crossing is accessible for both pedestrians and vehicles, connecting both sides of the village directly. A roundabout and parking facilities are located on the western side, where you can leave your car before exploring the area.
The bridge was officially renamed after a former leader on October 23, 2008, and on that same day a memorial site was inaugurated in his honor. This dual ceremony made the day a special moment in the village's history.
