Water tower in Szeged, Water tower in Szent István Square, Szeged, Hungary.
The cylindrical reinforced concrete structure rises 54.9 meters into the sky, featuring a water tank with a capacity of 1004.8 cubic meters.
Engineer Szilárd Zielinski designed this industrial monument in 1904, making it the second water tower constructed in Hungary using reinforced concrete technology.
The tower exhibits early modern architecture with Art Nouveau elements, complemented by busts of seven architects who shaped Szeged's development.
The water tower opens its doors to visitors from May through September on the first Saturday of each month between 10:00 and 16:00.
The structure houses a Foucault pendulum that demonstrates Earth's rotation, combining water infrastructure with scientific education for the public.
