Árpád-kilátó, Observation tower on Látó Hill in Budapest, Hungary

The Árpád-kilátó sits on Látó Hill at around 376 meters elevation with a covered design built from natural stone and wood that opens toward Budapest's inner city. The tower's layout lets you look out over the surrounding neighborhoods and hills from its viewing areas.

Built in 1929 at the request of hotel owner Frigyes Glück, the tower was designed by architect Friedrich Loránd using traditional construction methods. It became one of several observation points developed in the early 1900s around Budapest's hills and valleys.

The structure reflects Székely architectural traditions from Transylvania through its small terraces and towers that you can see up close. Local hikers and families often gather here, making it a spot where regional building styles meet everyday community use.

You can reach the tower via marked hiking trails, including the National Blue Trail that connects Hűvösvölgy and Szépvölgy valleys. The terrain is walkable in proper hiking shoes, and different routes are available depending on where you start from.

From the tower, visitors get a wide view of Budapest, the Danube River bridges, Gellért Hill, and the surrounding Buda Mountains that look different in each season. This outlook makes it a favorite spot for photographers who want to capture the changing light and landscape throughout the year.
