Hotel Avas

Hotel Avas is a historic building in Miskolc that extends over multiple stories and accommodates guests. The structure displays typical architecture from its era of origin and retains its character as a former inn.

The building opened in 1894 as Hotel Korona and served as an important meeting place for travelers and artists. The establishment played a role in Miskolc's early development as a cultural and commercial center.

The hotel served as a venue for theater performances and artistic shows that shaped cultural life in the city. Prominent artists like actress Déryné performed here, using the courtyard as a stage.

The building is located at Mélyvölgy Street 1 in Miskolc and is currently undergoing renovation. It is being transformed into an educational center under the management of Mathias Corvinus Collegium.

The hotel evolved from a modest inn with around 35 rooms into a significant landmark of the city. Its transformation is closely tied to the arrival of artists who had been expelled from Pest and found refuge and a performance venue here.
