Columbo statue, Bronze statue in Lipótváros district, Hungary.
The Columbo statue is a bronze depiction of the television detective in Lipótváros district, Budapest. It shows the figure in his signature raincoat with a basset hound at his side, both life-sized and placed at street level.
Sculptor Géza Dezső Fekete created the work in 2014 as a tribute to Peter Falk and his connection to the city. The location was chosen near Falk Miksa Street, named after a journalist and alleged ancestor of the actor.
The figure honors actor Peter Falk, who traced his family roots to Hungary and whose work remains popular in the city. Visitors often pose for photos beside it, mimicking the detective's rumpled posture and gestures.
The monument sits at the corner of Szent István Boulevard and Falk Miksa Street and is accessible at any time. The surrounding area features many galleries, antique shops, and cafés for a break after visiting.
The figure holds a cigar above his head as if frozen mid-gesture during a moment of thought. This playful approach invites visitors to linger beside the bronze figures and become part of the scene.
