Derrynaflan Chalice, Medieval religious vessel in Killenaule, Ireland.

The Derrynaflan Chalice measures 19.2 centimeters in height and 21 centimeters in diameter, featuring silver bowl construction with bronze and gypsum elements.

Located in 1980 at a monastic site in County Tipperary, this chalice remained buried from the 8th century until its discovery by Michael Webb and his son.

The chalice exhibits Irish metalwork techniques through its silver bowl, decorated handles containing gold filigree panels, and amber studs along the circular band.

Visitors can examine this liturgical vessel alongside other components of the Derrynaflan Hoard at the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.

The chalice construction incorporates a hollow stem connecting system between its three main parts instead of traditional copper bolts for enhanced stability.
