Malahide

Malahide is a coastal settlement in Fingal with a marina, beach, and village center lined with boutiques, restaurants, and local shops. The town stretches along the Irish Sea and blends its maritime functions with an active village core.

Vikings established a settlement near Malahide Estuary around 795, and Normans later built Malahide Castle in the 12th century. These two phases shaped the location as a fortified stronghold in its early years.

The Georgian buildings around the Grand Hotel show how this place became a favored seaside retreat for Dubliners in the 1800s. These structures still define the town's character and what visitors see when they walk through its streets.

The town connects to Dublin by DART rail, regular bus routes, and the M1 motorway, with travel time to the city center around 30 minutes. This proximity and good connections make it easy to explore the area or visit Dublin.

Malahide Sea Scouts were established in 1919 and remain one of Europe's largest Scout groups. The organization has been part of community life here for more than a century.
