Frescati House

Frescati House was a Georgian mansion in Blackrock, Dublin, with a restrained exterior that concealed rich interior details. The rooms inside featured elaborate plasterwork, decorative ceiling paintings, and a private theater room showcasing the owners' wealth and refinement.

The building was constructed in 1739 for John Hely Hutchinson, Provost of Trinity College, and later became the residence of the FitzGerald family. It remained a significant landmark in Dublin until its demolition in the 1980s.

The house was home to one of Ireland's most influential families and reflected the lifestyle of wealthy 18th-century Dublin residents. Its elaborate rooms and fine decorations displayed the social standing of those who lived there.

The original building no longer stands, so visitors can only experience it through photographs and historical accounts. The site where it once stood is now occupied by the Frascati Shopping Centre.

The FitzGerald family undertook extensive renovations during the 1760s that transformed the house into an outstanding example of Georgian design. These costly improvements made it one of the most talked-about residences of its era in Dublin.
