Tyrrellspass Castle, Medieval tower house in Tyrrellspass, Ireland
The stone castle rises 20 meters high and contains multiple chambers connected by an original spiral staircase from the thirteenth century.
Built in 1411, the castle belonged to the Tyrrell family, cousins of William the Conqueror, until the Cromwellian invasion of 1650.
The castle restaurant hosts medieval banquets where guests experience traditional food and entertainment within centuries-old stone walls.
Located on Main Street in Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath, the castle operates as a restaurant with a museum displaying local artifacts.
One of the castle's roof beams, dating from 1280, remains visible today as an exposed structural element in the restaurant lounge.
