Killaloe Bridge, Road bridge in Killaloe, Ireland
The bridge stretches across the River Shannon, connecting the towns of Ballina in County Tipperary and Killaloe in County Clare through thirteen stone arches.
The current structure, built around 1780 on the site of a 1650 bridge, received additional central arches in 1825 and a lifting section in 1929.
A monument stands in the middle of the bridge commemorating four Irish Republican Army members who lost their lives at this location in 1920.
The bridge operates with a single vehicular lane controlled by traffic lights, requiring vehicles to alternate their crossing between both directions.
The structure incorporates an eel management system that helps transport young eels during their migration journey toward the Shannon Estuary.
