National Science Museum at Maynooth, Science museum in Maynooth, Ireland.
The National Science Museum at Maynooth exhibits Ireland's largest collection of scientific instruments, including historic coils, magnets, and telegraph machines.
Established in 1934 as the Museum of Ecclesiology, the institution expanded its focus to science under the influence of Nicholas Callan's research legacy.
The museum maintains two primary collections: scientific instruments connected to Nicholas Callan and ecclesiastical artifacts representing three centuries of Irish heritage.
Visitors can explore the museum on Wednesdays from 14:00 to 16:00 and Sundays from 14:00 to 18:00 during summer months.
The museum houses the first induction coil invented by Callan in 1836, which generated 600,000 volts and revolutionized electrical engineering.
