Watch Tower, Medieval defensive tower in Waterford, Ireland
The Watch Tower stands as a cylindrical stone structure on Manor Street, featuring arrow slits and a gun loop for defensive purposes.
Built during the 13th century as part of Waterford's city walls, the Watch Tower underwent modifications in the 15th century to accommodate artillery operations.
The Watch Tower remains one of six surviving towers from the original seventeen that formed the medieval defense system of Waterford.
Visitors can access the tower through two entrances at the rear, with one at ground level and another at wall-walk level.
The tower's western side marks the former location of Close Gate, which was demolished in the 18th century to provide access to Bullocks Wyse estate.
