Atlantic Technological University, Technological university in the north west of Ireland
Atlantic Technological University is a technological institution in Sligo spanning 72 acres with modern buildings alongside older structures. The campus features specialized laboratories, engineering and science workshops, art studios, design spaces, a sports center, and multiple cafes serving its approximately 10,000 students.
Atlantic Technological University was formed in 2022 when three separate institutes merged: Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, IT Sligo, and Letterkenny Institute of Technology. The Sligo campus sits on land that has served educational purposes for many years before the institution took its current shape.
The campus brings together students from many parts of the world who share learning spaces and ideas. The welcoming environment encourages people from different backgrounds to settle in and participate in campus activities and local events.
The campus is conveniently reached from Sligo town, a short walk away, with parking available though spaces fill quickly. For arrival, you can use Ireland West Airport (35 miles away) or Dublin Airport (130 miles away), as well as train services and local buses.
The institution includes specialized sites such as a furniture and woodworking campus in Letterfrack and a former agricultural school campus in Mountbellew that has offered education since 1904. These distributed locations provide focused teaching in areas that go well beyond typical technical subjects.
