Nir Am

Nir Am is a kibbutz in Israel's Southern District that combines traditional agricultural work with contemporary business ventures. The settlement houses a museum dedicated to regional water management and security, alongside workspace facilities that support local entrepreneurs.

The kibbutz was founded in 1943 by immigrants from Bessarabia affiliated with the Gordonia youth movement. It later served as a headquarters for the Negev Brigade during the 1948 war.

The Museum of Water and Security in the Negev presents exhibitions about regional water management and security developments through educational displays.

The grounds are relatively flat and easy to navigate on foot, with most facilities within walking distance. The best time to explore is early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat.

A standout feature is the lookout point by the Nir Am Reservoir, which offers views across the border toward Gaza. This vantage point provides a rare perspective on a contentious region from within a peaceful settlement.
