Church of Saint Porphyrius, Greek Orthodox church in Zaytun Quarter, Gaza City, Palestine
The rectangular structure contains a single aisle divided into two groin-vaulted bays and measures 22.9 meters by 8.9 meters in internal dimensions.
The current church building was constructed during the Crusader period in 1150s, replacing an earlier structure from 425 on the same location.
The church serves the Greek Orthodox community under the Jerusalem Patriarchate and contains the tomb of Saint Porphyrius in its northeastern corner.
The building features three entrance points, with the main portal decorated by a portico supported by marble columns for visitor access.
During the seventh century, the building temporarily functioned as a mosque before returning to its original purpose as a Christian church.
