Beit Lessin Theater, Theatrical company in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Beit Lessin Theater is a theatrical company based in Tel Aviv, housed in a renovated building on Dizengoff Street. The space has been adapted to accommodate larger productions, including musicals, with updated technical facilities for the stage.
The theater was founded in 1980 by Yaakov Agmon under the Histadrut labor organization. In 2003, it moved into the former home of the Cameri Theater on Dizengoff Street, which gave it a larger stage and a new identity.
The theater is known for staging plays that reflect everyday life in Israel, with stories that feel close to local audiences. Many productions are performed in Hebrew and draw theatergoers who want to see their own experiences on stage.
The theater sits on Dizengoff Street in central Tel Aviv and is easy to reach by bus or on foot from nearby neighborhoods. Since most shows are in Hebrew, visitors who do not speak the language should check in advance whether subtitles or translations are available.
When Zippi Pines took over management in 1993, the shift toward Israeli-written plays was driven by her personal artistic choices rather than a formal policy. The play Mikveh, one of the productions from that period, went on to win the Israeli Theater Prize in 2005.
