Cymbalista Synagogue and Jewish Heritage Center

The Cymbalista Synagogue consists of two identical towers standing 13.5 meters high, connected by a rectangular entrance hall with clean geometric lines. The interior contains event spaces, a library holding Jewish texts, and exhibition areas designed for educational programs.

The synagogue was built between 1997 and 1998 with funding from Paulette and Norbert Cymbalista. In 2022, it received heritage site designation, marking its importance for future preservation.

The name honors donors Paulette and Norbert Cymbalista, whose vision shaped this place. Visitors experience a space where contemporary design and Jewish traditions meet directly, creating a distinct environment for worship and learning.

The facility offers accessible event spaces, a library, and exhibitions that can be visited without prior arrangements. It is helpful to check beforehand about any visiting restrictions, especially during Jewish holidays.

Architect Mario Botta used natural light and geometric forms to merge modern design with religious function. A distinctive feature is the translucent onyx illumination above the Torah Ark, which softly lights the sacred space.
