Avital

Avital is an agricultural moshav in the Gilboa Regional Council located about 10 kilometers south of the city of Afula in northern Israel. It sits at approximately 70 meters elevation across land that was developed for farming.

The settlement was founded in 1953 by Iranian and Turkish immigrants as part of the national Moshavim Movement. This development was connected to significant territorial changes that had occurred in the region earlier.

The name comes from Biblical tradition, referring to Avital, a wife of King David mentioned in the Second Book of Samuel. This connection to ancient Jewish history shapes how residents understand their community's identity.

Each family operates their own individual farm while participating in shared purchasing and marketing systems through the community council. Visitors should understand this is an active residential community focused on farming operations.

The settlement occupies land that was formerly part of the Palestinian village of Zir'in before territorial changes in the early decades of the 1900s. This connection to the site's previous geography is an important part of understanding the community's location.
