Avital, Agricultural moshav in Gilboa Regional Council, Israel
The moshav extends across land at 70 meters elevation in northern Israel, ten kilometers south of the city of Afula.
Iranian and Turkish immigrants established this agricultural settlement in 1953 as part of the national Moshavim Movement initiative.
The name connects to Biblical heritage, referencing Avital, one of King David's wives mentioned in the Second Book of Samuel.
Each family in the moshav maintains their individual farm while participating in cooperative purchasing and marketing through the community council.
The settlement occupies former lands of the Palestinian village of Zir'in, marking territorial changes in the region prior to 1933.
