Talpiot is a mixed residential and commercial district in southeastern Jerusalem with extensive retail and industrial areas. The neighborhood contains shopping centers, office buildings, and entertainment facilities distributed throughout its layout.
The neighborhood was founded in 1922 by Zionist pioneers as a garden suburb and designed by Bauhaus architect Richard Kauffmann. The original plan included a central building intended to serve as a parliament.
The Yellow Submarine is a music venue where Israeli and international artists perform. The Rav Chen cinema screens films that are not shown elsewhere in Jerusalem.
The neighborhood is easily accessible by public transportation and offers ample parking near shopping centers. The area is relatively flat and walkable, with wide streets and clear routes through commercial zones.
An Indian cemetery in the neighborhood holds graves of Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim soldiers from World War I. The tombstones bear inscriptions in English, Hebrew, Sanskrit, and Urdu, marking a little-known chapter of the area's past.
