Shrine of `Abdu'l-Bahá, Sacred mausoleum in Acre, Israel
The Shrine of `Abdu'l-Bahá features an 18-windowed dome atop an octagonal base, constructed with stones carved in Italy during the post-World War II period.
The construction of this religious monument began in the early 20th century and reached completion in 1953, under the supervision of Shoghi Effendi.
This mausoleum contains the remains of `Abdu'l-Bahá, son of Bahá'u'lláh, who led the Bahá'í Faith and promoted global peace through extensive travels.
The shrine welcomes visitors who wish to engage in silent reflection, with no formal services conducted within its walls.
Recent construction developments include a new shrine structure, designed by architect Hossein Amanat, with an estimated budget of 77 million dollars.
