Gate of the Chain, City gate in Jerusalem
The Chain Gate is one of the seven main open Gates of the Old City of Jerusalem.
Its construction was finished by the Umayyad caliph Abd al-Malik, likely during the period of 689 to 705.
The gate provides access to the western flank of the Temple Mount.
It's located near some significant religious sites, making it a busy entry point for worshipers and visitors.
The name 'Chain Gate' originates from a chain that once hung inside, used for oath-taking purposes.
