בית גולדמינץ, Schule in Israel
Beit Goldmintz is a building in Netanya on Israel's coast with classrooms, bedrooms, and recreational facilities. The site has 88 air-conditioned rooms, two dining halls, a cinema with 360 seats, a club with 150 seats, and a small synagogue to house around 528 people.
The building was constructed in the 1950s after Belgian donor Romi Goldmintz funded it as an art museum and resort facility. Following his death and difficulty attracting visitors, the state took over and converted it into a training center for Israeli military soldiers.
The site is named after the Belgian donor Romi Goldmintz, who funded the original art institution. Today it serves a different community of soldiers and trainees who use it as a learning and rest space.
The site sits close to the coast, so visitors can see the sea from many locations throughout the grounds. The place is large with many areas to explore, so it helps to take time and visit the various facilities like classrooms, dining areas, and rest spaces.
The building was originally designed as a modern art museum with glass facades and mosaics, but was later fundamentally rebuilt. Large windows were closed, exhibition spaces removed, and the original art collection taken away to serve its new purpose.
