Ariel Sharon Park, Metropolitan park in Bik'at Ono, Israel
The 2000-acre park transforms a former landfill into a green space with walking paths, lakes, and recreational areas near Tel Aviv.
The land belonged to the Palestinian village of al-Khayriyya until 1948, when it became a waste disposal site known as Hiriya from 1952 to 1998.
The park contains the Mikveh Israel agricultural school, Shalem Farm, and a visitor center displaying multimedia exhibits about the area's transformation.
The park operates daily from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM with free admission and offers weekend guided tours requiring advance registration.
The central mountain, made from processed waste materials, provides observation points over the Gush Dan region and serves as a stopover for 200 bird species.
