Namakkal district

Namakkal district is an administrative area across eight taluks in southeastern Tamil Nadu. The two main centers of Tiruchengode and Namakkal function as the district's primary administrative and economic hubs.

The area was created as a separate administrative district in 1996 and formally separated from Salem District in 1997. This reorganization reshaped the region's administrative structure and governance.

The area holds deep roots in Tamil literature and regional customs. In the Kolli Hills, you can find places that feature prominently in ancient texts and continue to matter in local life today.
