Buldhana district, Administrative district in Maharashtra, India

Buldhana district sits within the Amravati division of Maharashtra and covers rolling terrain with farmland devoted mainly to cotton, soybean, and pulses. The area includes larger towns like Khamgaon and Malkapur, which serve as trading centers for farm produce.

The area changed hands from Maurya to Mughal dynasties over centuries before coming under British administration in 1853. It later became part of Maharashtra as Vidarbha was integrated into the state.

The Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple in Shegaon within the district draws thousands of devotees who participate in religious ceremonies and traditional celebrations.

National Highway 53 connects the district to larger cities around it and makes access easier for travelers. Weekly markets in Khamgaon and Malkapur offer a glimpse into trading of local farm goods.

Lonar Lake formed about 60,000 years ago from a meteorite strike and ranks as the second largest impact crater in basaltic rock worldwide. The body of water draws geologists and researchers who want to study the rare crater formation.
