Amravati division, Administrative division in Maharashtra, India
Amravati division is an administrative region in Maharashtra comprising five districts spread across the Vidarbha region. The area includes various cities and towns connected through a network that forms part of eastern Maharashtra.
The territory was originally part of Berar Province under British rule until 1903, when it became part of the Central Provinces. After independence, it joined the newly formed state of Maharashtra in 1960.
The region is home to communities that speak Marathi and practice Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist traditions alongside one another. This religious diversity shapes daily life and the festivals celebrated across the five districts.
The region is well connected by roads linking the five districts, making travel between them feasible. Visitors should plan their route based on which districts they wish to explore, as facilities vary across the territory.
The Melghat Tiger Reserve spans portions of two districts within the division and protects wild tiger populations. This conservation area is one of the region's most important wildlife sanctuaries.
