Gurgaon is a big city in Haryana state, located about 30 kilometers southwest of Delhi, spreading across wide areas of residential and commercial development. The skyline is dominated by high-rise buildings with glass and steel facades, between which run broad multilane roads.

The place transformed from a rural settlement into an urban center starting in the 1980s, when international technology and automotive companies began establishing operations here. This development accelerated after India's economic liberalization in 1991, fundamentally reshaping the cityscape.

The city shows its everyday life through multilingual shop signs and restaurants serving Haryanvi dishes alongside international cuisine. In public spaces you hear Hindi, English, Punjabi and Mewati spoken side by side, reflecting the diversity of the population.

The metro connection to Delhi and several expressways provide direct access to the city, though traffic increases considerably during peak commuting hours. Within the city, app-based taxis and auto-rickshaws are the most common ways to move around for shorter distances.

The city hosts the highest number of shopping malls in all of India, spread along its main traffic arteries. Many residents use these malls not only for shopping but also as air-conditioned meeting spots during the hot summer months.
