Barasat

Barasat is a city in West Bengal located roughly 24 kilometers northeast of Kolkata in the Ganges Delta region. It functions as a regional trade hub with multiple administrative divisions and serves the surrounding areas.

The municipality was established in 1869 and grew from a retreat for British colonial officials who built garden houses. Colonial-era structures still shape the character of the area today.
