Bhadrak district, Administrative district in Odisha, India
Bhadrak district is an administrative region in eastern Odisha, comprising seven administrative blocks spread across approximately 2,500 square kilometers. The area contains multiple villages and lies within the central division of the state.
The district formed in 1993 when it separated from the larger Balasore district through administrative reorganization. This division created an independent region with its own governance structure.
The Bhadrakali Temple on the Salandi River bank serves as the spiritual center of the district, shaping local traditions and religious practices that visitors can witness today.
The district is well connected by National Highway 16, making it accessible from major cities in the region. A railway station at Charampa provides additional transport options for movement between locations.
The Dhamra Port on the Baitarani River represents a major maritime hub with modern facilities serving regional trade. The port still makes use of an ancient navigation tower that guided ships in earlier times.
